Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important representative commented the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
